Why kids?

My niece Grace recently presented me with a drawing.  It was a portrait of my family…that is, my husband, my dog and I.  The look on her face when she handed it over was priceless.  She was so proud and so very excited.  I love receiving these personal tokens from kids because it reminds me of why I love them and why I love photographing them.  Her gift to me was so simple, yet so personal.  It showed me that she cared.  As adults we often over think things and try to be perfect, but kids are simply themselves.  Grace drew a picture from her heart, just because.

I keep a binder of all the artwork drawn for me and I’m hoping to display these masterpieces somewhere, someday.  For now, I will show them here, because they are simply awesome.

I present to you my family portrait, by Miss Grace.  Yes, the proportions are a bit off.  My curves are a bit exaggerated as is my husband’s height.  But let’s focus on the important things.  Let’s talk about the fact that my husband and I are outfitted in a stylish wardrobe straight from the early 1900s.  Did you check out my hat?  And the detail on my dress?  I even have a fan in case I get hot.  I don’t know where she came up with this, but I love it : )
